Who is John Lauro? Meet lawyer representing Trumps criminal case with Jack Smith

On Thursday, John Lauro and other attorneys for former President Donald Trump met with prosecutors at special counsel Jack Smith’s office to discuss the possibility of a third charge.

On Thursday, John Lauro and Todd Blanche, attorneys for Trump, met with Smith’s group. CNN reported that a Smith prosecutor and jurors could be seen entering the courtroom. The former POTUS’ team left the conference without receiving any information regarding the timing of a potential third indictment.

According to Axios, these meetings give defense attorneys a chance to present their final defense against any prospective charges that their client may be subject to.

Trump fought against having a meeting between his lawyers and Smith’s team after receiving a target letter from Smith earlier this month. The 45th president thought that the meeting was pointless because the indictment had already been announced.
